What is Considered Personal Health Information?

As defined in Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA), “personal health information is any identifying information about an individual (oral or recorded), including information re an individual’s health or health care history (i.e. physical, mental condition, family medical history, provision of health care, long term health care services, health card number, blood or body part donations, payment of health care, identity of a health care provider or a substitute decision maker)”.

Our Privacy Policy reflects our commitment to help you comply with applicable laws and standards of practice in all provinces of Canada.

Accountability:

We take our commitment to securing your client’s privacy very seriously. Each therapist is responsible for the personal information under his/her control.

Limiting Collection:

We collect information by fair and lawful means and collect only that information, which may be necessary for purposes, related to the provision of your member account.

Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention:

The information we request from you is used for the purposes of providing member service to Registered Massage Therapists. We understand the importance of privacy and confidentially as stated in PHIPA and PIPEDA. We will seek your express consent before using the information for purposes beyond the scope of the posted Privacy Statement. We DO NOT sell patient lists or other personal information to third parties. We will retain the contents of your member account only for the time it is required and once your personal information is no longer required, it will be destroyed.

Safeguards – Protecting Your Information:

We protect your client’s information with appropriate safeguards and security measures. Access to each member’s personal information will be authorized only by the therapist that have permission by their membership on the DigitalRMT website. From time to time work on the website will happen, in that case organizations and agents must agree to abide by our Privacy Policy and may be asked to sign contracts to that effect. We will give them only the information necessary to perform the services for which they are engaged, and will require that they not store, use or disclose the information for purposes other than to carry out those services.

Email Address and Contact Information:

When you send us e-mail or when you ask us to respond to you by email, we acquire your email address. We use your email address to acknowledge your comments and/or reply to your questions, and we may store your communication and our reply in order to provide you with a high level of customer support.

Access to Credit Card Information
